AI Prompts for Pipeline Reviews

Most pipeline reviews answer the wrong question.

"What's in the pipeline?" is easy to answer but rarely useful. The questions that matter are: which deals are real, which are at risk, where is the manager's time best spent, and what's the honest forecast?

These AI prompts help managers and RevOps teams get to those answers faster — before the meeting, during it, and in the coaching follow-up after.

Before the Review: Prep Prompts

Prompt 1 — Pipeline Health Snapshot

> "Here is my current pipeline data: [paste deal list with stage, amount, close date, last activity].

1. Flag the top 5 deals most at risk based on stage age, lack of recent activity, or missing signals

2. Identify which deals are likely to slip from this quarter — and why

3. Summarise pipeline coverage: what's my realistic close vs target?

4. List the 3 deals I should spend the most manager time on this week."

>

Prompt 2 — Deal-Level Risk Assessment

> "Assess this deal: paste deal summary — company, stage, amount, stakeholders engaged, last activity, [MEDDPICC notes].

1. What are the top 3 risks in this deal right now?

2. What's missing from a MEDDPICC perspective?

3. What specific actions should the AE take in the next 7 days?

4. What's the realistic close probability and what would need to change to improve it?"

>

Prompt 3 — Forecast Accuracy Check

> "Here are the deals in my commit category: [list]. Here are the deals in best case: [list].

Based on deal signals, historical patterns, and MEDDPICC coverage:

1. Which commit deals are genuinely at risk?

2. Which best-case deals could move to commit with specific actions?

3. What's a realistic revenue range for this month/quarter?

4. What's the key variable that will determine whether we're at the high or low end?"

Prompt 4 — Deal Interrogation Questions

> "I'm about to review this deal with my rep: [deal summary].

Generate 8 probing questions I can ask that:

• Test whether the qualification is real or assumed

• Uncover stakeholders the rep may not have mapped

• Surface competitive risk or timeline slippage

• Lead the rep to their own insight rather than telling them the answer."

>

Prompt 5 — Mutual Action Plan Check

> "Here are the notes from a deal's most recent call: [paste].

Does a clear mutual action plan exist? What is it, and what's missing?

If there's no MAP, write a suggested version based on deal stage and what we know."

>

After the Review: Follow-Up and Coaching

Prompt 6 — Rep Coaching Summary

> "Based on this week's pipeline review for [Rep Name]: [notes or deal list].

1. What are the 2–3 most consistent patterns across their deals — good and bad?

2. What's their biggest single development area right now?

3. Write 3 coaching questions for our next 1:1 that help them self-discover rather than just receive feedback.

4. Suggest one deal they should prioritise and one they should consider disqualifying."

>

Prompt 7 — Pipeline Generation Gap Analysis

> "This rep / team has [X amount] of pipeline against a [Y] target, with a [Z%] win rate.

1. What's the pipeline coverage gap?

2. How many new opportunities do they need to create in the next 30 days to stay on track?

3. Where are the most likely new pipeline sources based on current ICP and territory?

4. Suggest a 30-day pipeline generation plan."

Prompt 8 — Forecast Narrative

> "Here is this quarter's pipeline and forecast data: [paste summary].

Write a 200-word forecast narrative for the leadership team that:

• States the headline number and confidence level

• Identifies the top 3 deals that determine whether we hit or miss

• Flags the 2–3 most significant risks

• Proposes 1–2 specific actions to improve the outcome."
